According to a local source, a huge number of tanks and armoured vehicles have entered Idlib province, Syria. This may be a sign that the Turkish military might escalate its operation against the PKK (Kurdistan work party) militants in northwestern Syria.
Turkey has around 13,000 troops in Syria. Their purpose is to defend the border with Syria to prevent any extremists from entering the country. The additional tanks and armoured might be used to support a new ground operation against the PKK militants.
