Moments ago a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck 120 km south of Birkirkara, Malta at a shallow depth of 10km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

The earthquake was felt as weak shaking in several towns in Malta. Aftershocks expected in the next few hours.
