A 4.5-magnitude earthquake strikes central California.

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake just struck 20 miles northeast of Salinas, Monterey County, California, USA at a depth of 9.2km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

The earthquake was felt in towns or cities located close to the epicenter such as San Jose and Soledad. The risk of a tsunami has been excluded.
