6.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Philippines.

Moments ago a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Philippine Sea, 159 km east of Sarangani Island, Philippines at an intermediate depth of 139km. It struck at  5.11pm local time.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Cities or towns located close to the epicenter would have felt the quake. Reports indicate that Weak shaking might have been felt in Caburan (pop. 12,600) located 140 km from the epicenter. It was also felt in Tibanbang, Mati, Malita, Lupon, Manay, Malapatan and Alabel.
