Strong earthquake rattles Greece.

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck moments ago, 39 km southwest of Trikala in the Thessaly region of Greece, at a shallow depth of 10 km.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Based on preliminary seismic data, the quake was likely felt widely near the epicenter but should not have caused significant damage—beyond fallen objects, broken windows, or similar minor issues.

In Karditsa (pop. 32,800; 35 km away), Trikala (pop. 61,700; 39 km), and Arta (pop. 21,900; 48 km), it probably produced light shaking.

Weak shaking may have reached Agrinio (pop. 46,900; 71 km), Larissa (pop. 146,900; 87 km), and Lamia (pop. 52,000; 87 km).
