On Thursday, United States reported a new daily record of 77,000 cases in 24 hours. This is considered to be the highest daily record in the world since the pandemic began. The US was constantly breaking new records, but this time, the daily record increased by a wide margin.

The United States is the worst hit country in the world. The virus spiraled out of control in the biggest economy of the world, and US states have closed their shops and businesses, while they were thinking about reopening, due to a sudden and consistent surge in cases. Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that the virus is under control, and was seen most of the time without a mask. He also attacked local officials for trying to convince people to wear masks to lessen the spread of the virus.

Dr. Ali Khan, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Centre, said ‘ How can you not shake your head, right ? Over 3 million cases, over 135,000 deaths, preventable deaths here in the United States.’

He continued, ‘And we are the one outlier amongst all of our peer countries. All of Europe has contained their disease. And many parts of the world, not only have they contained, they’ve eliminated the disease.’

The total number of cases in the US is 3,695,469 with 141,124 deaths.
