Spain reports 730 new cases

Over the past 24 hours, Spanish authorities said that 730 new cases and two deaths were registered. This is a significant increase compared to last Tuesday, when 529 cases were reported.

Spain is reemerging as a new European hotspot, after it has reported up to 9,011 new cases last week, which is considered the highest number of cases in months. On Wednesday, Spain’s Health Minister, Salvador Illa announced that there are around 224 active outbreaks, 23 more than there was on Monday.The worst hit regions where Aragon and Navarre. They reported 309 and 132 cases respectively.

The surge in cases in Navarre was linked to parties and nightclubs, after 93% of the cases were between the ages of 17 and 28.

A lockdown has been imposed in the neighbourhood of Pamplona, after more than 100 infections were reported.

Spain’s total number of cases is now 267,551 and 28,426 deaths.
