On Sunday, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported that five Chinese military aircraft, one Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft, two J-10 and two J-11 fighter approached Taiwan’s airspace from the Southwest part of the country. The MND also revealed that on the same day it was monitoring the movement of a US reconnaissance place close to Taiwan’s airspace.

It is the first time since September 2020, that the MND reported the movement of a US military aircraft.

As is expected, Taiwan scrambled fighter jets to monitor the Chinese jets, issued radio warnings to prevent them from entering further into the air defense identification zone (ADIZ),and activated its air defense units, until the Chinese fighter jets left the ADIZ.
