Capitol Hill in lockdown after car smashed into barrier. Police officer and suspect dead after the attack.

Capitol Hill in in lock-down right now after a car that smashed into a barrier at US Capitol complex. Two policemen were hit by the vehicle as it crashed into the barrier. The driver exited the vehicle with a knife. He was immediately shot by the police and taken into custody. Police units rushed to the scene and secured the area. Two people were seen carried out in stretchers.
The incident happened at the Northeast side of the Capitol between Russell Senate Office and the main building. A US Park Police helicopter was also filmed landing on the lawn outside the east entrance. One of the injured policemen was medevaced out. Street closures around the US Capitol Hill have been reported by DC Police Department on Twitter.
The security threat at Capitol Hill is reminiscent of January 6th Capitol invasion by violent protesters according to Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna.
Honestly, it did bring back memories of January 6th. It’s really sad, because I had thought once the barriers were removed, that we were moving back to some sense of normalcy. But this just shows the level of risk that there still is and really sad this is happening at the Capitol.

President Joe Biden was not at the Capitol Hill during the incident. He is aware of the Capitol Hill incident.
Update: The suspect and one of the police officers succumbed to their injuries. USCP said that the attack is not terror-related.
Update: Capitol Hill’s lockdown has been lifted.
Update: Suspect confirmed to be Noah Green, a 25 year old African-American man from Indiana. He is known to be a follower of the Nation of Islam. His Facebook page has been removed since the attack.
