On Thursday, an explosion struck a market in Sadr City District, Baghdad, killing four people and injuring 12 others. Five vehicles were also destroyed in the explosion. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the explosion. Based on what civilians saw, it is a possible car bomb.
Explosions in Sadr city uses occur daily years ago when the terrorist group ISIS were attacking Syria and Iraq. Since 2017, after ISIS were defeated, the number of explosions reduced a lot but once in a while the city is attacked by terrorist group. Last January, twin suicide bombings in a busy market killed more than 30 people and wounding dozens.
This attack comes hours after a drone apparently fired a missile towards US-led coalition troops located near Irbil airport and also at a Turkish military base in Northern Iraq.
