In the early hours of Friday morning, rockets sirens sounded in Southern Israel near the Gaza border, moments after Israel conducted several airstrikes in Khan Yunis and Gaza city on Thursday night. These airstrikes targeted several rocket launchers and Hamas training sites.
The airstrikes were in response to incendiary balloons launched from Gaza by Hamas operatives throughout the day. The balloons ignited eight fires in South Israel. No casualties or injuries were reported.
There is a risk of a new escalation between Israel and Gaza weeks after they agreed on a ceasefire after weeks of heavy fighting.
