According to a report released by Wall Street Journal, the Biden administration will remove 8 patriot missile units from several countries in the Middle-East which include the Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Apart from these advanced missile units, the US will also remove another type of anti-missile unit called the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (Thaad) system from Saudi Arabia. Some fighter jets squadrons will also be relocated out from the Middle-East. Hundreds of American troops that operate the anti-missile units will also be redeployed. The majority of the military equipment reduction will be from Saudi Arabia as they intend to recalibrate their relationship with Saudi Arabia. The reduction of forces from Saudi Arabia is a signal that the US is committed to negotiate the return to the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.
The US is redirecting its military to focus its attention towards China and Russia.
