Nebraska battered by severe weather.

On Thursday morning, severe weather battered northeast Nebraska, with heavy rain and winds reaching up to 80 miles an hour.

Madison and Stanton counties have a tornado warning which will expire at 1.45am CT. Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for most of the region due to the high winds. These include the counties of Madison, Burt, Wayne, Cuming, Colfax, Platte, Dodge, Thurston, Butler, Saunders and Stanton.

Due to the damaging winds, in the middle of the night, around 1,271 Norfolk residents lost power. It was restored by 3.30am, even though some individuals reported that the outage took longer. Storms are expected to continue throughout the morning.
