A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Tajikistan.

Hours ago a strong 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Viloyati Khatlon, 27 km southeast of Rasht, Republican Subordination, Tajikistan at a depth of 10km. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) were first to report the quake.

The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might revised later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their report.

The town of Rasht (pop. 10,800) located 26 km from the epicenter, felt a moderate shaking. Other towns that felt the sahking include Novobod (pop. 5,400) located 41 km from the epicenter, Roghun (pop. 7,700) 64 km away, Obigarm (pop. 10,000) 79 km away, and Leningrad (pop. 12,000) 99 km away,
