A few moments ago a huge explosion was reported in west Mellat Park in Tehran, Iran close to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

According to Fars News, Tehran’s fire department said that they did not receive any reports of an explosion. Soon afterwards, the deputy governor of Tehran said that the explosion occured in west Mellat park. Fars News Agency reported that experts went to the scene to investigate. Firefighters and police have been deployed to Mellat Park.

New reports emerged that the explosion could have been closer to the IRIB than previously thought. No injuries or deaths were reported.

Update: The explosion was due to a stun grenade
