On Friday, an Afghan commander said that a Reuters journalist Danish Siddiqui was killed while he was covering a clash between Afghan security forces and the Taliban near Pakistani border. The journalist started covering the clashes between Afghan commandos and Taliban fighters earlier this week in the Southern province of Kandahar.

Unfortunately, the journalist was caught in the cross-fire in the main market area of Spin Boldak between the Afghan commandos and Taliban fighters when he was fatally hit. Both the President and Editor of Reuters said in a statement that they are attempting to get more information as to what happened exactly.

We are urgently seeking more information, working with authorities in the region.
