Multiple earthquakes struck the island of Taiwan in the last 3 hours,the most recent one struck 30 minutes ago in Taitung, 45 km northeast of Taitung City at a depth of 5km.

We can expect the exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake to be revised later on as seismologists review their data and calculations, or else as other agencies issue their report.

Towns or cities that felt the shaking include Taitung City (pop. 109,600) located 45 km from the epicenter, Yujing (pop. 16,600) located 91 km from the epicenter, Lugu (pop. 19,600) 93 km away, Hualien City (pop. 350,500) 99 km away, Puli (pop. 86,400) 102 km away, Douliu (pop. 104,700) 105 km away, Nantou City (pop. 105,700) 113 km away, Zhongxing New Village (pop. 25,500) 115 km away, and Kaohsiung City (pop. 1,519,700) 120 km away.

Update: Another two earthquakes of magnitude 4.1 and 4.6 struck Taiwan 5 minutes ago.
