A suicide attack kills several Chinese nationals in Pakistan.

According to ARY news, on Friday a suicide attack in Gwadar, Balochistan at least three people were killed, including two children.

The suicide bomber targeted a convoy Chinese nationals in Gwadar which included three Chinese vehicles and also Pakistani security vehicles.

Chinese citizens are frequently attacked by terrorist groups in Pakistan, claiming that they are targeting them as they disagree with China’s investment in Pakistan. A month ago, an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on a bus full of Chinese engineers killed nine. China were furious and demanded the Pakistani government to find the attacker. Than three weeks ago, another attack targeted two Chinese engineers and a Chinese national, which were critically injured in city of Karachi.

China is a huge investor in Pakistan, and the city of Karachi is home to several major Chinese-funded projects, but several terror groups in Pakistan disagree with the Chinese investment and have repeatedly attacked several Chinese citizens and projects. The investments include the construction of the Mainline-1 (ML-1) railway from Karachi to Peshawar, Dasu hydropower dam project, construction of a new hospital, a new international airport, a vocational institute and solving the water and power shortages in Gwadar, all of which form part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) – a $65billion investment plan.

An investigation has been launched to determine who attacked and killed the Chinese nationals.
