On Saturday, local officials announced that a gas explosion at the Chinese city of Dalian killed eight people and injured five others. It is believed that leakage from a gas cyclinder resulted in an explosion and than fire. It occurred at around midnight.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel quickly went to the site and the fire was put out at around 2.30am. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, but they are all in stable condition. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the liquiefied gas leakage.
