We have received reports of a failed assassination attempt on the life of the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Thursday morning. According to Al Arabia TV, several gunmen from a vehicle opened fire on PM Dbeibah’s car as he was returning home. Luckily the Libyan PM escaped unharmed.

Unfortunately, the assailants managed to run away. This attempt would exacerbate the crisis in Libya where PM Dbeibah said that he will ignore a vote scheduled by the eastern-based parliament later on Thursday. The Libyan PM was installed last March as head of the U.N.-backed Government of National Unity (GNU) . He was meant to oversee the run-up to the Libyan election in December.

More details to follow.
