According to Open Source Intelligence, on Saturday, a Russian Navy Kilo Class submarine was spotted by a Copernicus Sentinel satellite in the Mediterranean Sea close to the Crete coast. The submarine seems to have surfaced and is accompanied by the Russian Amur-class repair ship PM-82 and a Buyan-M Class Missile corvette Orekhovo- Zuyevo.
It is unknown why the submarine surfaced and approached Crete coast, but some speculate that the submarine might have experienced some technical problems. The submarine is known to be based in Tartus, Syria. These Russian Navy assets are known to serve as Russia’s outer defense for the Ukrainian invasion.
More details to follow.
