California was hit by another moderate earthquake, this time, magnitude 5.4. The earthquake struck 29 miles south of Eureka, Humboldt County, California, USA at a depth of 27.8km. Nearly 12 hours ago, California was hit by a 4.1-magnitude earthquake.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
The earthquake was felt in Redcrest (pop. 89) located 1 miles from the epicenter, Rio Dell (pop. 3,400) 9 miles away, Hydesville (pop. 1,200) 11 miles away, Fortuna (pop. 12,000) 16 miles away, Eureka (pop. 27,000) 29 miles away, Bayside (pop. 17,100) 30 miles away, Arcata (pop. 17,800) 32 miles away, and McKinleyville (pop. 15,200) 38 miles away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have also been felt in Redding (pop. 91,600) located 84 miles from the epicenter.
