A British Security firm, Ambrey, said that an explosion occurred in the vicinity of the Barbados-flagged, US- owned cargo ship off the port of Aden, Southern Yemen. A ship 57 nautical miles from the south of Aden, identified itself as being ‘Yemeni Navy’ and was ordered to alter its course.

It is not known whether the explosion was caused by Houthi rebels firing a missile and being neutralized by Western forces or whether a missile actually hit a target. Houthi militants have been firing missiles from Yemen in solidarity with Palestinians since November.
