Tokyo raises its coronavirus alert level.

On Wednesday, the number of cases surpassed 100 for the 6th day in a row, prompting the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to raise the coronavirus alert level to the highest level.
The number of positivity in tests has increased by up to 6.2%, and the number of those hospitalized has now reached 700.
On Tuesday, Tokyo health officials asked for around 800 people that attended a theatre in Shinjuku, to get tested. Around 20 people were found to be positive. The source of the infection was found to be the Japanese boy-band members.
The Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said to a news conference, ‘It’s crucial that we maintain caution and prevent the further spread of infections, while at the same time pursue economic activity.’
The rise of infections was linked to nightlife areas, but clusters of infections all around the capital have now been increasing to involve all age groups.
As of Wednesday, the total number of cases is now 22,220 while the total death toll is 982.
