South Korean authorities reported 113 cases over the past 24 hours. This is the first daily increase of more than 100 cases in four months.

The authorities said that the number was expected, since South Korea was expecting people from abroad. Specifically, a cargo- ship, where there were people positive for the virus, and South Korean workers that were flown back from Iraq.

Out of the 113 cases, 86 were imported while 27 were locally transmitted.

The cargo ship which was Russian-flagged docked in the port of Busan on Friday at 8am. The crew were tested last Monday when Busan officials were informed that the captain, who returned to Russia the week before, had a fever and turned out to be positive for the virus. Out of a crew of 21, 16 were found to be positive for the virus.

Around 36 South Korean workers that were on repatriation flights from Iraq, were found to be positive for the virus.

As of Saturday, South Korea reported a total of 14,092 cases and 298 deaths.
