On Sunday, the Pakistani’s military said that during a raid in the Afghan border, where rebels commonly entrench themselves, four rebels and a Pakistani soldier were killed.
Pakistan routinely carry out raids in the area to prevent Pakistani Taliban from regrouping. North Waziristan is an area known to be the headquarters for the terrorists, and they commonly launch attacks on Pakistani soldiers and security forces.
The raid was launched after intelligence reported a terrorist hideout near Kaitu river in North Waziristan. As soon as Pakistani troops surrounded the hideout, the terrorists opened fire in an attempt to flee, but were gunned down by the soldiers. Apart from the soldier that died during the fighting, two other soldiers were injured and took to hospital.
