UK patient first in the World to receive COVID-19 vaccine.

Margaret Keenan, a 90-year old UK woman is the first person to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the World. The Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine that was administered to her at the University Hospital in Coventry at 6.45am.

This marks the beginning of vaccinations, in the UK, the first country to approve the COVID-19 vaccine for use. Around 50 hospital hubs in the country will receive the vaccines. Those above 80 years old, that are in hospitals, and those that have been discharged will be the first to receive the vaccine.

Several million doses of the vaccine will be arriving in the UK next month. The Prime Minister of the UK, Boris Johnson said,

Margaret Keenan will receive a booster dose in 21 days, and around 400,000 people will receive the first batch of the 800,000 vaccine doses. The UK government managed to secure 40 million doses of the vaccine which needs to be stored at -70°C. According to studies the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine is 95% effective in preventing COVID-19.
Mr. Hancock said that patients will receive an NHS reminder card for the their follow-up appointment for the booster dose.
