On Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that they managed to secure four million doses of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine, which will be delivered this month.
The vaccine doses will be targeted for ‘COVID-19 hotspots’ according to Ursula Von Der Leyen.
To tackle aggressive variants of the virus and to improve the situation in hotspots, quick and decisive action is necessary.

France will receive around 600,000 of the doses while the rest for the other European countries. Initially, Pfizer agreed to deliver around 500 million vaccine doses by the end of 2021, but this target was not reached after Pfizer had to temporarily cut deliveries to the European Union. Back in mid-February, Pfizer agreed to deliver around 5 million doses every week to the European Union.
4 mio doses for 320 mio €uropeans. Well done Uschi, you mucked that up greatly, didn’t ya? I’m so ashamed of my country and my continent and its leadership. 😦
… and quite happy to live in exile on the sunny coasts of South Africa. 😉
