On Tuesday, the Saudi Arabian forces intercepted a booby trapped boat in the Red Sea near the port of Yanbu. The Saudi Navy found this booby trapped boat in the morning, and immediately destroyed it.

The booby-trapped boat was dealt and destroyed according to the rules of engagement.

Saudi military spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki.

It is possible that it was intended for the oil tanker NCC Dammam owned by the Saudi firm Bahri. The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Yusuf Al-Othaimeen, condemned the attempted attack on the oil tanker. He also said that any aggression towards economic and maritime navigation will always be condemned by OIC.

OIC stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia and will support it in any measures taken to protect its commercial operations and national facilities. Attacks on vessels passing through the Red Sea are not uncommon. Last December, a Saudi Arabian tanker was attacked by an explosive-laden boat while it was anchored in Jeddah port.

The Saudi Defense Ministry has launched an investigation to determine who was behind on today’s attempted attack on the oil tanker.
