A 5.1-magnitude earthquake strikes South Pacific Ocean near New Zealand.

Nearly an hour ago, GEONET (NZ) reported a 5.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the South Pacific Ocean near New Zealand at a depth of 264.3km. It is not yet known if a tsunami alert has been issued.

As always, the exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the earthquake might be revised in the next few hours as seismologists review their data. No information regarding any damage has been reported yet.
