On Saturday, a shooting occurred in Lake Merritt in Oakland, California where a scheduled Juneteenth celebration was about to be held. One died and six were seriously injured. The deceased was a 22-year old man from San Francisco. The others are in stable condition and their age ranges from 16-27.

One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The reports of a shooting came in at 6.22pm. Police were quickly dispatched to the area. At the time of the shooting around 1,000 people were there. Two suspects have been detained, after they were running from the scene with weapons.Two firearms were recovered from both men. Police are determining whether the detained are actually responsible for the shooting.
