On Friday June 25, US 7th fleet Japanese-based carrier USS Ronald Reagan along with guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) and guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97) arrived in the Arabian Sea entering US 5th fleet area of operation.

While in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations, the Ronald Reagan CSG will operate and train alongside regional and coalition partners and provide airpower to protect U.S. and coalition forces as they conduct drawdown operations from Afghanistan.

Statement by USS Ronald Reagan spokesman.

It is now working with US 5th fleet USS carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), flagship of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group. It is the first time since 2012 that the Ronald Reagan strike group entered US 5th fleet area of operation which encompasses about 2.5 million square miles of water and includes the Gulf of Oman, Arabian Gulf, Red Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean.

The USS Ronald Reagan is expected is heading to Afghanistan to support the withdrawal of troops.
