Explosion in an oilfield storage tank near Larose, Louisiana.

Moments ago, a number of oilfield storage tanks exploded near Catfish Lake in Lafourche County close to Larose, Louisiana. Firefighters were quickly deployed to the scene. Fire Prevention Officer Jada Pitre of Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 said that the explosion injured one person which was taken to hospital for minor burns.
People that witnessed the explosion described seeing big plumes of back smoke and flames. Officials determined that the explosion occurred at a tank battery, which is basically a collection of tanks which serves to collect crude oil from the well before eventually sending it to the pipeline system.
An official investigation has been launched. More details to follow.
