A day after tensions between Serbia and Kosovo was feared that it would end up in conflict similiar to 1999. The Serbian President announced yesterday evening that Kosovo was about to attack Serbia on midnight, but even though tensions were high and army personnel moved to borders, neither side shot on each other.
The Kosovan rules which were to be imposed today, would force Serbs living in Northern Kosovo to change their Serb car license plates to Pristina-issued number plates. Both the Serbian government, which does not recognize Kosovo as a country, and Russia, considered the rule as discriminatory.
The decision to suspend the number plate plan came after Kosovo met with top US officials. The latter demanded that the full implementation of the deal to be delayed for 30 days.
