On Wednesday night, an ambulance in Hawaii exploded while it was on its way to Adventist Health Castle in Kailua. A 91- year old patient died in the explosion, while a paramedic was seriously injured and was rushed to the burn unit in Straub Hospital. The driver was not injured in the accident.

Fire crew managed to extinguish the blaze that engulfed the ambulance after 11 minutes. Both the HPD and Honolulu Fire remained on the scene very late into the evening. An investigation into the cause of the explosion has been launched.
