A Philippines ferry with 82 passengers and crew on board caught fire.

On Friday, the Philippines ferry ‘M/V Asia Philippines’ caught fire while it was approaching a port south of Manila. There were 82 passengers and crew on board. The Philippines coast guard said that at least 73 people that were on board have been saved so far. The Coast Guard said that this type of ferry can take up to 400 passengers, but luckily only 82 passengers and crew were on board.
Search and rescue efforts are ongoing after nightfall to save the rest of the passengers. The ferry left from Calapan city in Oriental Mindoro province when it was just 1 km from anchorage it caught fire. It is not yet known what was the cause of the fire.
