The Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that he received a dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The vaccine is in third and final stage of the clinical trials and has been reported to be safe and effective.

The Prime Minister tweeted,

We wish everyone safety and great health, and we are proud of our teams who have worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available in the UAE.

The vaccine has been given to front-line healthcare workers, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the minister for cabinet affairs Mohammed Abdullah al-Gergawi.

The number of cases in UAE seem to have stabilized, thanks to aggressive measures the authorities took early on. Last week UAE reported a recovery rate of 96.7% and a mortality rate of 0.5%. As of Tuesday, UAE reported 136,149 cases and 497 deaths since the pandemic began.
