In the afternoon of 12th June an explosion occured in front of Zayyar Thiri Monastery, San Chuang, Myanmar. Residents reported that the military soon arrived after the explosion.

It was a noise bomb in front of the monastery. Police and military trucks arrived very soon after. I don’t know if people were injured.

Resident that witnessed the explosion.

The area was blocked from access by the military. The country has been in turmoil since the coup on February 2021 that ousted country’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and several other politicians of her party. The country has been in a kind of civil war ever since. More than 300 bombing attacks have been recorded across cities in Myanmar since the coup four months ago. Fighting between junta’s security forces and those opposed to military rule occurs daily, with the use of hand grenades and parcel bombs being a common weapon to attack the military junta.
