On Sunday the Liberian coast guard reported that between the night of 17-18th July a ship sank off the coast of Liberia. There were 15 people on board that have so far been reported as missing.
The vessel left Monrovia on Saturday enroute to the central port city of Buchanan, when water started to enter the ship.
The coastguard launched a search and rescue operation during the night while the ship was sinking. So far none of the 15 people on board have been found yet.
According to Liberia’s Maritime Authority Eugene Lenn Nagbe, the vessel was under detention orders due to the current state of the vessel so much so that it was considered unseaworthy.
Update: 11 survivors found.
