WHO registers record single day increase in new cases.

On Saturday, WHO recorded 260,000 new cases. This marks a new global record, as coronavirus cases around the world is on the increase.

The previous global record was 238,000, which was reached on Friday. More than half of the cases were from 4 countries These are: United States with 72,000 new cases, Brazil with 45,500 cases, India with 35,000 cases, and around 14,000 in South Africa.

In Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro said that Brazil’s economy is to shrink by 6.4%. According to WHO, Brazil number of cases reached a plateau. Read more about this here:

In China, in the region of Urumqi, officials said that the region is ‘in wartime mode’. This was due to 17 new cases. Officials were quick to suspend nearly 80% of the flights and gatherings of people. Movement has been severely restricted.

Yesterday, Canada admitted that in the last week there was a surge in new cases, worrying the officials, that the virus might spiral put of control. Read more about it here:

In the United States, a surge of cases was reported in several states especially in the South. Florida is considered to be the epicenter of the virus in the US, recording more than 10,000 new cases and 90 deaths on Saturday.

As of Sunday, there have been 14,400,909 cases and 605,549 deaths.
