A gas explosion at a petrol station was reported in Novosibirsk, Russia an hour ago. Local media reported that up to 16 people were injured in the accident. Two of the injured were firefighters. All of the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.

It is believed that due to the inferno of the explosion, the fire spread to a second petrol station in Akademgorodok creating a total chaos. A total of 800 square meters were torched.

An investigation to determine the cause of the explosion has been launched.
