Local authorities reported that an 18-year old teen of an Orthodox Church attempted to blow himself up at a convent located in the city of Serpukhov around 100km south of Moscow.

An 18-year-old graduate of this educational institution entered the premises of the Orthodox gymnasium of the Vvedenskiy Vladychniy convent and blew himself up.

Statement by the Ministry.

The would-be bomber survived the minor explosion, but other individuals were injured in the attack. A number of children were injured in the attack, and were being treated at the scene. An investigation has been launched. Unfortunately, Russia has seen a rise in teenage attacks in schools. Last September a teenager shot and killed six students at a university campus in the Urals city of Perm.
